  • A Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory for all travelers. It's also recommended to have vaccinations for Hepatitis A and B, Typhoid, Meningitis, Rabies, and an up-to-date Tetanus shot. Malaria prophylaxis is also highly recommended.

  • Visitors to Uganda must have a valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining. A visa is also required for most nationalities and can be obtained online through the Uganda Electronic Visa/Permit System or on arrival at Entebbe International Airport.   • The currency used in Uganda is the Ugandan Shilling (UGX). Credit cards, especially Visa and MasterCard, are accepted in major hotels, restaurants, and some shops in Kampala and other tourist areas. However, it's advisable to carry cash for use in more remote areas.

  • Major tourist attractions in Uganda include Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Murchison Falls National Park, Kibale National Park for chimpanzee tracking, the Rwenzori Mountains, and Lake Victoria.

  • The official languages of Uganda are English and Swahili. Luganda is widely spoken, especially in the central region, and there are several other local languages spoken throughout the country.

  • The best time to visit Uganda is during the dry seasons, which are from December to February and June to September. These periods offer the best conditions for wildlife viewing, trekking, and outdoor activities.

  • Pack lightweight, breathable clothing suitable for warm weather, along with a few warmer layers for cooler evenings and mountain areas. Comfortable walking shoes, a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, and a first aid kit are also essential. Don’t forget your camera and binoculars for wildlife viewing.

  • Uganda uses a 240V supply voltage and 50Hz. The power plugs and sockets are of type G, which are the same as those used in the United Kingdom. It is advisable to bring a universal adapter if your devices use a different plug type.

  • To use drones in Uganda, you need to obtain permission from the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority. Drones are prohibited in national parks and protected areas without special permits. Always check the latest regulations before your trip.

  • In case of an emergency, you can contact the Uganda Police Force at 999 or 112. For medical emergencies, it’s best to know the nearest hospital or clinic and have their contact information handy.
